22 Sierra Leoneans Languish in Guinea prison

Twenty –two Sierra Leonean youth are said to be languishing inside a Guinean prison since October 5th last year.
The young men, who left the shores of Sierra Leone in search of greener pastures, were arrested and later taken to prison since October last year.
Guinean authorities accused them of being rebels from Sierra Leone who had gone there to cause mayhem in their country.
Since their arrest, there have been little or no effort from the Sierra Leonean Embassy in Guinea to secure their release despite according to investigation mounted by Salone Compass Newspaper.
Relatives of the twenty-two victims who are reported to be in dire health conditions told this medium that they have made several efforts in trying to secure the release of the loved ones but all proved futile.
Some of the victims who managed to speak with this writer said they have been abandoned by officials of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Guinea whose intervention remain key to their freedom.
As at press time, Sierra Leone embassy officials in Guinea could not be reached for comment as messages and calls made by this medium remained unattended to.
Meanwhile, relatives of the 22 youths who are currently suffering in prison- some of whom are said to be paralyzed, are appealing to the Government of Sierra Leone especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to intervene in order to secure the release of their loved ones
