Orange Sierra Leone (OSL) on Thursday announced the forming of a partnership with the Sierra Leone Insurance Association (SLIA) comprising the National Insurance Company, Staco Insurance Company, International Insurance Company, and many others. This partnership, according to OSL, aims to provide a convenient way for customers to pay for their motor insurance through Orange Money.
Managing Director of National Insurance Company, Arthur Yaskey, expressed his satisfaction with this development, stating that partnering with Orange Money was a positive move for the insurance industry. He emphasised the convenience of paying for motor insurance through the mobile money platform.
Sierra Leone Insurance Commission (SLICOM) representative Raymond Macaulay said that insurance companies are now regulated by the SLIA, which was formed years ago. This regulatory body will ensure that insurance companies adhere to the required standards and guidelines.
During the announcement, Ambassador Alie Bangura, chairman of the Association, highlighted the benefits of partnering with Orange Mobile Money. He emphasised that the collaboration would alleviate the inconvenience of making long-distance trips to the premises of insurance companies for payment purposes. He also praised this milestone achievement and stated that they would expand their offerings to include other types of insurance in the future.
Furthermore, he proudly announced that Sierra Leone has become the first African country to digitise its insurance business—a significant accomplishment for the nation.
The CEO of Orange Mobile Money expressed readiness and willingness to partner with the insurance companies. He assured the customers, especially insurance brokers, that they will receive the best service, underscoring their commitment to maintaining a long-lasting partnership.
The partnership between Orange Sierra Leone and the insurance companies is expected to simplify insurance payment processes and provide customers with a more convenient and efficient experience.
