Deputy Head of Media and Public Relations of the Sierra Leone Police, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Samuel Saio Conteh, has said that the police handling the murder case of Arthur Efakereh Edgar Smith, a former lecturer of Fourah Bay College (FBC), could not find any trace of the alleged murderers.
Edgar Smith was found dead in mysterious circumstances in his flat at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone about two months ago.
Two months after his mysterious death, the Sierra Leone Police has says it could not find or trace any of Smith’s killers.
Sierraloaded reported in March that Smith’s corpse was found in his flat at Fourah Bay College campus after the Sierra Leone Police received report from one Victoria A.M. Smith who is believed to be his relative.
At the scene of crime, Smith was found dead with his hands and feet tied with a rope and a pot on his head.
Following his alleged murder, lecturers as well as other neighbors had earlier been invited by the police to make statement, but were allowed to go home while the investigation continues.
Deputy Head of Media and Public Relations, Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Assistant Superintendent of Police, Samuel Saio Conteh told Awoko Newspaper that police investigators who were placed in charge of Smith’s murder could not find or trace any of Smith’s killers.
The Sierra Leone police was not helpful with Smith’s exact cause of death, long after his corpse was conveyed to the Connaught Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
Many lecturers at Fourah Bay College have suffered from the hands of violent alleged armed robbers who broke into their homes and make away with valuables, and sometime assault them.
ASP Saio said the security of the lecturers and every other citizen of the country is at the heart of the police, adding that the SLP has heightened security presence on F.B.C campus, which according to him, led to the arrest of some alleged murderers who have been charged to court.
