Who is the real rapist?
Sierra Leoneans would love to know between Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, Leader and Chairman of the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) currently in prison and also standing trial on allegation of sexual penetration allegedly against a 15 year old girl and the cousin of President Julius Maada Bio who himself was allegedly accused of sexually abusing a 13 year old girl but the matter was never charged to court as the case file was at the central police station in Freetown.James Bio , a. cousin of President Bio formally of SALWACO and later appointed by President Bio as director at the Ministry of Water Resources was allegedly accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl believed to be his niece. James Bio whose matter was still pending at the CID was appointed as Director at the Ministry of Water Resources at a time president Bio had declared rape a national emergency. Many were of the view that such an appointment was considered to be a slap in the fight against rape especially when President Bio appointed his cousin as a director into sensitive office even though the man in question had been allegedly accused of raping a 13-year-old girl. Narrowing it to the issue of Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray who is presently in prison and has been denied bail since his first appearance in court leaves one to ponder what kind of justice system we have in Sierra Leone. If Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray could be punished for a similar allegation why provide a blanket for James Bio who himself had been accused of the same crime, a crime even worse than that of Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray. Sierra Leoneans demand to know why the matter was never charged to court in the first place. The incident which allegedly was reported to have taken place in 2013 was reported by the mother of the victim who happens to be a cousin of the girl in question. It appears the previous APC government was so matured that thought knew the family relationship exists between President Bio and James Bio, there was no political interference in the said matter, the reason why James Bio was never charged to court. Does that mean the mother of the victim lied against James Bio that he allegedly raped her daughter? This could have been proven in a court of law provided the matter was charged to court. Therefore, Sierra Leoneans would love to see James Bio, the cousin of president Bio be brought before the court to face justice just like how the ADP strongman is in prison today suffering because he was very critical of the government. James Bio’s appointment by president Bio at a time the president launched a campaign against rape as a national emergency whilst appointing his cousin as director at water resources ministry could be seen to be one of the greatest blunders Of the New Direction government. Sierra Leoneans are therefore waiting to see if James Bio is being protected because his cousin is the current president of Sierra Leone. He didn’t face justice for the alleged crime since 2013 to date.
