Brother of Popular Musician Tortured
Thugs believed to be associated with the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) are said to have attacked and mercilessly tortured one Ibrahim Bangura, 25-year-old brother of famous musician, Lamin Kalie Kargbo popularly known as Knack Sparta.
Bangura’s crime, according to his testimony, was not unconnected to his relationship with Knack Sparta, the popular musician who sang the revolutionary song, ‘’ D PALM TREE DON KECH FIRE’’ against the ruling government depicting the harsh reality Sierra Leoneans are faced with under the current regime.
Ibrahim Bangura is currently admitted at a private hospital in Freetown with life -threatening injuries sustained during his attack.
It should be noted that Knack Sparta is a young Sierra Leonean musician who sang the popular song ‘D PALM TREE DON KECH FIRE’’ against the ruling SLPP Government. He was twice arrested following the audio and video release of the song which made waves in all nooks and crannies of the country especially when it depicts the mishaps Sierra Leoneans are subjected to by the Paopa regime.
Following the harassment faced by the young man, the opposition embraced him as one of theirs, moving with him at every function of the party. He was particularly moving around with Paolo Conteh, the former Minister of Defence in the All Peoples Congress led Government of Ernest Bai Koroma, who is currently standing trial for an treason offence.
Ibrahim’s attack, according to various accounts, was carried out because he was seen as an errand boy to Knack Sparta, who accounts have been conflicting as to his whereabouts till date.
Some accounts say he has escaped to neighbouring Guinea while others say he may have been killed during the prison riot which saw several inmates killed and dozens unaccounted for.
