Orange Sierra Leone (OSL) has reaffirmed its dedication to providing reliable and top-quality telecommunications services to all Sierra Leoneans. Alfie Barrie, the company’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), emphasized that Orange Sierra Leone has invested over 50 million in the expansion and modernization of its network. This investment includes the upgrade of more than 500 sites to 4G, even in remote areas, which underscores the company’s determination to improve connectivity nationwide.
Despite the challenges faced during the network upgrade, such as weather conditions, disruptions from third-party internet providers, malicious damage to fiber connections, and energy supply issues, the company has successfully completed its upgrades. Barrie added that the company’s dedicated technicians worked tirelessly to ensure the timely completion of the installations. Today, all Orange Sierra Leone sites are now operational on 4G, offering faster internet speeds and enhanced voice and data quality.
In addition to improving network speeds, Orange has demonstrated its commitment to optimizing energy consumption with an investment of up to17 million. This initiative ensures that the company continues to power its operations efficiently, especially in a time when many telecom companies face infrastructure limitations in underserved areas.
Expansion into Deep Rural Areas
One of the key achievements of Orange Sierra Leone is the launch of ten (10) new solar-powered deep rural sites in underserved areas. These sites, located in Sahn, Fanima, Tawuya, Pehala, Gbonkonka, Robaka, Mabang Mamutha, Falla, and Futta, provide enhanced connectivity for small businesses, enabling them to grow and expand. The installation of these solar-powered sites plays a crucial role in bridging the connectivity gap in rural areas, which often struggle to attract high-cost traditional telecom sites due to infrastructure challenges.
Barrie expressed that these deep rural sites would provide opportunities for people in these areas to connect with other businesses, fostering economic growth and opening doors to new possibilities.
A Strong Brand and Commitment to Customer Care
Orange Sierra Leone remains resilient, despite facing challenges from media reports that have attempted to tarnish the company’s reputation. Barrie refuted these claims, calling them malicious and unfounded, and emphasized that the company’s core values—care, responsibility, and boldness—remain deeply embedded in its culture. He assured customers that the company will continue to provide unmatched customer experiences and stay focused on meeting their needs.
Conclusion
With its significant investments in network expansion, energy optimization, and rural connectivity, Orange Sierra Leone is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for reliable and high-quality telecom services across the country. The company remains committed to increasing network availability and ensuring that more Sierra Leoneans have access to reliable mobile services.
