MASSIVE CORRUPTION UNCOVERED AT SLRSA MOYAMBA STATION
… ED in Desperate Cover-up
By Ibrahim Alusine Kamara (Kamalo)
It seems the Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) is not settled for any positive change at that state institution he presides over with the incessant administrative skirmishes hovering over him.
For a very long time now, Rev Smart K. Senessive has been bumping from one allegation of official malfeasance or corruption into the other, and there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight to the anomalous state of affairs.
The latest allegations on Salone Compass’ news desk is a grand fraud that has been perpetrated at the SLRSA Station at Moyamba, the very hometown of the Executive Director.
A leaked Internal Memo to the Executive Director from the Director of Licensing dated 18th September, 2024, exposes the said grand fraud. It is indicated that during the review of drivers’ license documents for processing, the Director of Licenses observed that some System Operators had been adding “extra features” to the bank numbers in order to process multiple jobs with the same bank number for 2024.
The fraud was unearthed in September, and even though the Director of License raised the issue with Executive Director Senessie in the Internal Memo, he never dragged the said System Operators to the ACC as he did in the case of the income tax for the National Revenue Authority (NRA), but decided to set up a committee to look into the issue which he is now alleged to be micromanaging to render the matter a “buff case.”
Salone Compass has also gathered that the Executive Director has embarked on a malicious witch-hunt spree, targeting officials that speak out against his alleged managerial shenanigans and subterfuges.
Of more serious concern is that this fraud took place at the Station of the Executive Director’s hometown of Moyamba and involves entirely of SLRSA’s bonafide revenue and line items, and has failed to act positively to free himself from vilification and save the institution’s integrity, but instead took 39 staff for revenue that’s not related to the institution’s operations, suggesting that he is complicit in the fraudulent act.
Another serious corruption allegation being levelled against the Executive Director is the creation of ghost departments at SLRSA such as, Department of Training, Department of Climate Change and Department of M and E, and has reportedly embarked on transferring people to these departments that are nonexistent.
Sadly, while all of this reportedly rages on at SLRSA unabated, Rev. Smart K. Senessie seems to be among the sacred cows in the Bio’s dispensation as the ACC has not for once whisked him away for questioning, except for his junior ranking officials.
Also, holding Rev Senessie in office amid the many allegations of malfeasance and corruption overwhelming his administration could indicate that he’s being lulled even as he has done little or nothing to effectuate appreciable progress under his auspices.
When contacted, Reverend Senesei declined commenting on any allegation, stating that he was only doing so if I could come to the office but did not tell when.
We are however willing to publish his response when he is ready.
Meanwhile, the Acting Head of Public Relations, Abass Turay, denied knowledge of the fraud uncovered, further promising to revert on the issue of the transfers after speaking to the Human Resources Department.
