
The National Social Security and Insurance Trust is a Statutory Public Trust charged with the responsibility of administering Sierra Leone’s National Pension Scheme. The Trust was established by the National Social Security and Insurance Trust Act No.5 of 20th July 2001 to provide retirement and other benefits to meet the contingency needs of workers and their dependants, and to provide for other related matters.
The National Social Security and Insurance Trust provides health facilities for its staff and dependants by operating an In-house Medical Clinic. We therefore seek applications from suitably qualified Sierra Leoneans to fill the under mentioned vacancies:
1. POSITION:State Registered Nurse (SRN)
NUMBER REQUIRED: One (01)
LOCATION:NASSIT In-House Medical Clinic
JOB GRADE:Senior Officer II
REPORT DIRECTLY TO:In-House Medical Doctor
JOB PURPOSE:To Support the In-House Doctor in providing and coordinating patient care, educate staff and their dependants who visit the clinic about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to staff and their families.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor patient’s condition and assess their needs to provide the best possible care and advice;
• Provide instant medical care in emergencies;
• Perform clinical duties and assist the doctor in handling patients as well as managing day-to-day operations and administration of the clinic;
• Accountable for the professional and nursing activities in the clinic to ensure high standards of care are maintained as per established SOPs;
• Observe and interpret patient’s symptoms and communicate them to the In-house Medical Doctor;
• Collaborate with the In-House Doctor and nurse to devise individualized care plans for patients;
• Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc.) and fill in patients’ charts;
• Adjust and administer patient’s medication and provide treatments according to Doctor’s orders;
• Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, preparing beds etc.);
• Supervising and training nurse/s or healthcare support staff in the Clinic;
• Performing other duties relating to the role as may be required by the In-House Medical Doctor or the National Social Security and Insurance Trust.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Diploma in State Certified Registered Nursing (SRN), Current and valid clinical license, (SRN Certificate and License).; plus,
• A minimum of five (05) years of clinical experience, practicing in a hospital setting
• Added qualification/s in other related healthcare fields can be an added advantage;
• Must NOT hold dual employment from private or national consolidated funds.
REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• IT skills in software packages and the ability to keep patient record up to date.
2. POSITION:SECHN NURSE
NUMBER REQUIRED: Two (01)
JOB GRADE:Intermediate Support Officer III
REPORT DIRECTLY TO:State Registered Nurse
JOB PURPOSE:To Support the SRN Nurse in providing and coordinating patient care, educate staff and their dependents who visit the clinic about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to staff and their families.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To Provide General Nursing to:
• Triage patients presenting to the clinic based on their level of acuity;
• Ensures that patients presenting to the clinic are managed appropriately including identifying those who need transfer to a higher level of care.
• Obtain and document patients’ vital signs, recognizing and responding to abnormal vital signs appropriately.
• Maintain proper patient records through effective documentation.
• Provide health education to the patients and their care-givers.
• Deliver high standards of care in collaboration with the rest of the clinical team.
• Responsible for the preparation of monthly reports to be submitted to the Human Resources Department for further analysis.
• Maintain confidentiality and impartiality and involve families in the plan of care.
• Promote patient/family-centered care to ensure that their needs are met.
• Engage and participate in clinical education or in-service training as determined by the Clinical Lead of the facility, Nurse Educator or the Director of Nursing.
• Participate in quality improvement projects and other related studies that could improve on the delivery of care to patients.
• Administer and record medication to patients as directed by the SRN Nurse/Doctor
• Ensures that all emergency cases are prioritized and seen appropriately regardless of the time of the day.
• Perform other duties related to the role, as may be required by the In-house Doctor/SRN Nurse or Trust
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• SECHN Certificate, Current and valid clinical license, (SECHN Certificate and License).
• A minimum of three (03) years clinical experience in General Nursing is preferred.
• Must NOT hold dual employment from private or national consolidated funds.

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, must be able to take initiative and problem-solve, and must be flexible.
• Ability to work well with a team, be dependable, and hard-working.
• Ability to be adaptable and function well in a busy work environment;
• IT skills in software packages and the ability to keep patient record up to date.
