A massive supply of rice to the security sector is ongoing nationwide, seemingly bringing the Ramadan too early for personnel of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) and those of the Sierra Leone Correctional Services (SLCS), known as prison officers previously.

This massive rice supply has been described as “Ramadan Bonanza”, with the Minister of Finance, Sheku Fantamadi Bangura said to be the workaholic that braved through all storms to make it a possible happening, backed by his loyal and hardworking team.

Meanwhile, each of the personnel of the Sierra Leone Police receives four bags of VIP Premium Parboil Rice, as massive supply to the military and prisons officers is also going on smoothly across the country.

Tarawi or Nafla prayers are expected tonight to commence the holy month of Ramadan tomorrow, and it has been observed that this supply is a giant stride by the Finance Minister that goes beyond just boosting the welfare and morale of the security sector personnel and their families for the Holy month of Ramadan, but comes also as a pleasant surprise package, particularly, to the SLCS personnel, who had had to endure several months of backlog supplies.

‘’There is no better time for these supplies than now, especially, when Ramadan is here with all its commitments in terms of food and other sacred tasks’’, security sector personnel maintained, as they thanked the Minister of Finance for what is referred to as ‘tireless efforts’ to make it happen.
