The seasoned football administrator and philanthropist, Chairman Babadi Kamara, has been fully assured by delegates that he will win the 2025 Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) elective congress in June with a clean slate.
A general survey was conducted by this medium over the past six months, engaging important people (delegates) from all five football regions in the country. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with delegates stating the reasons they are all onboard to elect Babadi Kamara as their president – the people’s president – who will bring a facelift to the broken football administration in the country.
Most delegates pointed to the huge improvements BabadiKamara (BBD) has brought to the football fraternity. According to the survey, many delegates are impressed with his leadership and vision since he took over as Bo Rangers’ Fan Club Chairman and later as Executive Chairman of the club.
The Southern Region Chairman, Joseph Mbogba, pointed out some of the improvements made by BBD: “Babadi stands tall among everyone when we talk about infrastructural development. I mean, the construction of the Southern Arena, the Bo Rangers clubhouse, and his assistance to other regions and clubs in the development of football pitches has been one of the highlights of BBD’s tenure.
“His ability to transform Bo Rangers Football Club from a mid-table team into undisputed champions of all FA competitions for the past three years, his capacity for human resource development, and his sourcing of funds for teams competing against his own, shows his resilience in developing the game, irrespective of region.”
Chairman Mbogba mentioned dozens of reasons they see in BBD to lead the federation. He concluded by saying that during the time when the football league was halted, BBD was a source of strength for all regions, districts, and chiefdoms to continue playing football in the country.
Similar reasons were echoed in the other regions, taking into account his key role in Guinea, Conakry, to ensure Sierra Leone’s qualifiers against Benin for the AFCON after two decades of absence from the tournament. BBD was an integral figure in Cameroon as Team Manager of Leone Stars. He even paid for some fans to travel to Cameroon as a way of galvanizing more support for the Leone Stars.
Delegates believe that with all these achievements and his role in developing the game, they are prepared to hand him the mantle of leadership in the football association.

The ordinary congress is scheduled to take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel on the 5th of April 2025. This congress will determine the future of the broken football system, where standing committees will be formed, and the final date for the elective congress in June will be announced.
