The Horse Fishing Company, off Jui Junction, Western Rural District, which had opened a gateway to good fishing investment in the country far back during the days of late Ex-President, Alhaji Dr. Amed Tejan Kabba, had ceased operations in 2019, until just three months it became rejuvenated.

According to observers and schools of thought, the renowned fishing company stopped operations due to ineffective managerial procedures, but it’s present mood of operations would go a long way to boost President Bio’s Human Capacity building.
The start of its operations few months ago has won the admiration of public investment entities owing to the efficient driven mechanism of its new management.
The present Managing Director of the company, Charles M. Bio while speaking to journalists said, the rejuvenation of the work has not been an easy way through because of the challenges met. But born out of the Human Capacity building of His Excellency the President, Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio, an action plan has to be drawn to ensure that the people of this country are humanly capacitated with what belongs to them.
“With the blessings of the government, I have to go all the way to the Gambia to lure in trustworthy investor in the fishing industry, “he disclosed, adding that, he enjoys a good cooperation with his Chinese investors as they always adhere to the necessary tasks that could be implemented to ward off any challenge that could pose a threat to the smooth running of the company.
Charles M. Bio said one of the responsibilities he is keen to amicably handle is in the area of upholding the Cooperate Social Responsibilities (CSR) of the company. “Government is very concerned about the drafted Local Content Policy which bridges existing companies in the country and the immediate communities they are doing their operations” he said, stating that, he always makes sure that workers in the company are employed based on the residents in the community the company operates.
Representative of the owner of Horse Fishing Company, Hessam Magdy Bagani, said that, the company has done a lot of community developmental projects like building mosques, constructing road drainages while upgrading the main trunk road that connects the company and the main Freetown/Waterloo highway.
“We have been in good relationship with the community people and we always look forward to maintaining that,” he said, adding that, the company is looking forward to the cooperation of the people. “We have even supported some community projects with sand for construction purpose,” he noted.
Manager of Horse Fishing Company security services, Halim Salah, said he looks forward to seeing the climate of a family of oneness with strong unity for the development of the company. “If we work together as one family we would achieve a common goal,” he noted.
Human Resource Officer of the company, Alpha M.A. Janneh, said his office works in consultation with the community people in any recruitment opportunity and they always look forward towards seeking the interest of the community.
Hawa Sesay, a resident of Jui community said, Horse Fishing Company has not only brought market opportunities for them in the fish market but has provided jobs for many youths in the area. “My brother who has not been with monthly salary work for two years has just been employed in the company,” she disclosed
Another resident, Abdulai, said he has been constantly spending time at a Local Ataya base idling, until he got employed in the company and since then, he has become self-reliant.
